Álvaro Salazar y María Cano

Álvaro Salazar and María Cano are the twosome behind Voro, their Majorca restaurant where they give free rein to an immense ability to innovate and reinvent the island's popular recipes.

Álvaro entered the world of cookery thanks to his aunt Luisa, and aged 19 he observed haute cuisine first hand at Tragabuches* (Ronda). He continued his training, and decided to cross borders to discover other gastronomies around the world. In 2015 he began the Argos project, where he earned his first Michelin star in only two years. In 2019 he embarked on his most personal project, Voro.

A project shared with María Cano, whom he met at Argos and who became Álvaro's right-hand woman. María had previously learned the trade at Choco* with Kisko García, and went on to form part of his kitchen crew. Her restlessness also led her to travel to Brazil, where she worked for a year and gained an insight into the country's cuisine.
